I met both Laurence and Christina back in 2016 on a yoga retreat and so relatively new into my life, their exceptional love and support has blown me away.
We all met for supper one autumnal evening last year and chewed through some Quiz Night ideas….Laurence had already been offered Grayswood Village Hall free of charge in order to hold the event and things were already hotting up by the time we started to plot more deeply…
I had been planning for a while, a London Gala event, with my gorgeous friends Gaby Roslin and Marc Elliott
(Yes I AM name dropping!!). They and I had looked for a venue and been cogitating for a while about how best to make this event work…As it wasn’t quite flowing, I put it to one-side…AND THEN….Lo and Behold, this amazing Quiz Night idea from Laurence and Christina came along and WHAM, THAT WAS IT!
I asked Gaby and Marc if they would come down and host the event and it was a YES…It fitted in with their busy schedules.
We called upon friends to help prep the hall, serve drinks and food and clear up after. We had a superb team of 6!
Laurence and Christina called upon friends and family who supplied incredible auction and raffle prizes. I want to honour Christina here as she is an EXCEPTIONAL photographer. She donated one of her uniquely STUNNING prints as an auction prize. Her superb photographic work can be viewed here: www.christinasmith.org
We dressed the tables beautifully… including the most incredible floral displays on each – stunningly created and donated by the fantastic Sarah Nash and also Carolyn Scott very generously donated miniature gins for each guests place setting on the table. A local curry house provided delicious curry – of which they gave us LOADS thanks to: www.mumbaiindiancuisine.co.uk
We were truly blessed with the amount of giving from everyone…..
Sebby popped along with Daddy Byron for the first half an hour to thank people personally for coming and give some well deserved gifts out to show a tiny bit of our ENORMOUS gratitude. (Hilariously Sebby had been to his school Christmas Fair that same day and had his face painted as his ‘Furry Brother’Mr Henry Pooch… Mummy hadn’t been informed properly and kept referring to Sebby’s newly painted face as ‘Sebby the Tiger’…It wasn’t until the next day when a photo was sent through from Daddy Byron to say he was painted to look like ‘Mr Henry’, that I realised why Sebby had looked so disgruntled at the intro I had given him!)
The atmosphere that night was superb and Marc and Gaby worked the room beautifully – throughout the Auction my mouth was agape and eyes pretty much welling up at each final bid…The amount raised was truly overwhelming and I still cannot quite believe what happened that night.
As I said during the event, Thank You doesn’t provide enough of what I actually feel inside…..But Thank You to EVERYONE involved especially to Laurence and Christina who made this all happen! xxx
